Terms of Use

The plain-language basics of using this site and reusing our content.

A note on this page: this is a plain-language summary of the terms we'd like people to follow when using this site, not a document drafted or reviewed by a solicitor. If you're adapting this for your own organisation, have it checked by someone qualified first.

Using this website

This website is provided by the Scottish Adult Adoptee Movement (SAAM) to share information, statements, publications and campaign material relating to adoptee rights. By using this site, you agree to use it responsibly and lawfully — including not attempting to disrupt, hack, or misuse the site or its contact and signup forms.

Our content

Statements, publications, campaign pages and other written content on this site are the work of SAAM and the Adoptee Rights UK campaign unless stated otherwise. You're welcome to read, quote, and share this content — including linking directly to any page — for non-commercial, educational, journalistic and advocacy purposes, provided you credit SAAM and don't misrepresent our position.

Downloadable PDFs (submissions, reports, the Supporting Document, the MP letter template) are provided for exactly this kind of reuse. The MP letter template in particular is intended to be copied, adapted and sent — that's what it's for.

If you want to reproduce substantial parts of our content in a commercial publication, or in a way not covered above, please get in touch first.

Accuracy and no warranty

We take care to keep statements, publications and campaign information accurate and up to date, and to correct errors when we find them. That said, this site is provided "as is": law, policy and parliamentary process referenced here can change after publication, and we can't guarantee that every page reflects the very latest developments at the moment you read it. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice — if you need advice about your own adoption, records, or legal situation, please consult a qualified solicitor or an appropriate support organisation.

External links

This site links to third-party websites, including government, parliamentary, news, and social media platforms. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or their own terms and privacy practices. A link from this site isn't necessarily an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, SAAM won't be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website, including reliance on its content, or from technical issues, downtime, or third-party content it links to.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. Any disputes relating to this website will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time as the site changes. The version published here is always the current one.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent via the contact page or to contact@saam.org.uk.
